Government, private think tanks hype right-wing threat, ignore left-wing violence: experts

Researchers in government and taxpayer-assisted private think tanks have hyped the threat of “far-right extremists” while failing to acknowledge growing threats of left-wing violence, critics say, pointing to the two assassination attempts against former President Trump to demonstrate the danger posed by some on the left.

“I think it goes without saying that violence of any kind is intolerable,” legal fellow at Heritage Foundation Zach Smith told Fox News Digital. “It shouldn’t be tolerated in our country. And while I appreciate some of the left have paid lip service to that ideal, they haven’t followed through with their actions. They haven’t followed through in terms of the resources and the willingness to confront the left-wing extremists that we’ve seen.”

Regarding threats against Donald Trump and his associates, Smith said, “We’ve seen condemnations of violence on the left, that’s good, and that’s appropriate.”

WITNESS SAW TRUMP ASSASSINATION SUSPECT FLEE BUSHES, TOOK PHOTO OF GETAWAY CAR

“And yet we still hear many on the left saying things like, ‘Donald Trump is a threat to democracy,’ that type of heated rhetoric,” Smith said. “Unfortunately, I think it was foreseeable that it would lead to these types of actions against Donald Trump and potentially others who support him, which I think, very tragic. And so, if those on the left want to focus on something, I think certainly ratcheting down the rhetoric would be a good place to start.”

While government organizations have categorized right-wing extremism as a major threat to the political landscape, the second alleged Trump gunman who pointed an assault rifle through a chain-link fence 500 yards away from where Trump was playing golf on Sunday – identified as Ryan Routh – backed Democrat candidates and echoed anti-Trump rhetoric on his social media accounts, saying “Democracy is on the ballot” and “we cannot lose.”

“Look at what’s happening with Antifa in many cities like Portland and Seattle, as you mentioned, the left-wing campus acts of violence, the intimidation of Jewish students that are intolerable, that you would hope would get louder condemnation,” Smith said. “And so there certainly does appear to be this double standard that’s playing out too often today.”

The Justice Department’s National Institute of Justice (NIJ), the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) have all published reports condemning right-wing violence and citing a rise in right-wing attacks in the last few years.

The NIJ reported this year that far-right extremists have committed more ideologically motivated homicides than far-left or radical Islamist groups since 1990.

WHO IS RYAN WESLEY ROUTH: ALLEGED GUNMAN AT TRUMP GOLF CLUB

“A recent threat assessment by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security concluded that domestic violent extremists are an acute threat and highlighted a probability that COVID-19 pandemic-related stressors, long-standing ideological grievances related to immigration, and narratives surrounding electoral fraud will continue to serve as a justification for violent actions,” the report noted.

Hans A. von Spakovsky, senior legal fellow at Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital, “I’m just astonished that they would make that claim.”

“It was radical left-wing movements headed by BLM and Antifa that were engaged in arson riots, violence in cities across America,” he said. “I don’t seem to recall any right-wing groups burning cities over the country, like they are, like they are talking about there.”

“Any fear we should have today, it’s of the extreme left-wing violence that we have seen over the past few years in cities all across the country and now in two assassination attempts on a major candidate of one of the two major political parties, running for president,” von Spakovsky added.

Right-wing extremist terror incidents in the U.S. surged dramatically in recent years, rising from seven incidents in 2005-2007 to 40 in 2020-2022, according to a 2023 ADL report. According to CharityWatch.org, ADL receives a significant portion, up to 24%, of its “cash revenue,” from “government sources.”

“As a nonpartisan organization that fights antisemitism, extremism and all forms of hate, ADL tracks extremism from the far left to the far right,” an ADL spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Our vast resources and backgrounders provide information on individuals, groups and movements from across the ideological spectrum.”

ALLEGED TRUMP GUNMAN RYAN ROUTH HAS A PAPER TRAIL OF PRO-UKRAINE ADVOCACY: REPORTS

For its part, CSIS reported in 2020, “Based on a CSIS data set of terrorist incidents, the most significant threat likely comes from White supremacists, though anarchists and religious extremists inspired by the Islamic State and al Qaeda could present a potential threat as well.”

In an email, a senior CSIS spokesperson said the organization has “built a data set of all terrorist attacks and plots” in the U.S. since 1994.

While it is a private nonprofit deriving most of its funding from donations and private sources, according to its website, CSIS also “receives funding from U.S. government entities” as well as “international ally and partner governments.”

Between 2010 and 2021, the Department of Homeland Security also reported 231 domestic terrorism incidents, with 35% being racially- or ethnically-motivated, making them the deadliest, according to the GAO.

“Anti-government or anti-authority motivated violent extremism” was the second most common, according to the GAO, resulting in 15 deaths.

Biden admin moves to reinstate Trump-era rule, delist gray wolves from endangered species list

The Biden administration is moving to reinstate a Trump-era rule that lifted endangered species protections on gray wolves in the U.S.

Wolves were delisted from the Endangered Species Act (ESA) under President Trump in 2020, returning management of gray wolf populations to state and tribal wildlife professionals, according to a press release from the Department of Interior.

However, a federal judge reversed Trump’s decision in 2022 after environmental groups sued the Department of the Interior over the delisting, reinstating protection for the species.

Gray wolves are currently protected under the ESA as “threatened” in Minnesota and “endangered” in the remaining states, except for those in the Northern Rocky Mountain region, according to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services. However, a new filing by the Biden administration suggests that the Trump-era ruling should be reinstated.

WOLVES REINTRODUCED IN COLORADO BLAMED FOR REPEATED ATTACKS ON LIVESTOCK

Attorneys with the Justice Department filed a motion with the 9th U.S. District Court of Appeals on Friday to reverse the court’s decision on the Trump-era delisting and lift ESA protections on gray wolves.

WASHINGTON OFFICIALS WILL VOTE TO REMOVE GRAY WOLF FROM ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST

The filing with the U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco claimed that the court was wrong in overturning the Trump-era ruling on the species.

“The district court misunderstood the ESA’s clear mandate and compounded that error by imposing its own views of the science,” court documents read. “Its decision invalidating the rule should be reversed.”

The Biden administration claimed in its 87-page filing that gray wolves no longer meet ESA standards of protection in that they are no longer considered “endangered” or “threatened.”

Court documents referenced the 2020 ruling from Trump’s Department of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service that delisted the wolf species.

“After that thorough analysis, the Service concluded that no configuration of gray wolves was threatened or endangered in all or a significant portion of its range. That analysis was well-reasoned and well-supported by the administrative record,” the brief reads.

The move comes just months after a group of 20 House Republicans sent a letter to U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Director Martha Williams, urging the Biden administration to remove protections for the gray wolf, citing sometimes life-threatening conflicts with ranchers and farmers.

In February, FWS rejected requests from conservation groups to restore protection for gray wolves across the Northern Rocky Mountain region.

Most recently, a bipartisan group of House lawmakers passed legislation in April to end federal protection for gray wolves and remove them from the endangered species list.

Ohio AG eyes ‘creative’ path to get ‘mishandled’ Springfield migrant crisis in front of federal judge

Ohio’s Republican attorney general is blasting the federal government over the developing migrant crisis in Springfield, Ohio, and says his office has begun the process of trying to get the issue in front of a federal judge.

“I’ve asked my staff to take a look at the law and put their creative hats on to see if there’s a way we can get in front of a federal judge to review this situation,” Ohio AG Dave Yost told Fox News Digital during an interview. “I mean, think about this. If it could happen to Springfield, it could happen to any town in America. There has to be some kind of limit to the federal government’s authority to simply continue letting people in and allowing them to run free in the country and congregate in a place like Springfield that’s not prepared to handle it.”

Yost told Fox News Digital that the federal government has “completely mishandled” Springfield, where between 15,000 and 20,000 Haitian migrants have settled in the town of 60,000 and many of those migrants have come to the U.S. with temporary protected status, allowing them the ability to live and work in the U.S. for a limited amount of time.

TRUMP TALKS ABC NEWS PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE, WHAT’S HAPPENING IN SPRINGFIELD, OHIO, IN FOX NEWS INTERVIEW

Yost says the federal government has not properly coordinated resettling those migrants with the town and it is therefore “stressing the schools, the health care system, and the safety net” and said that at least 4,000 Haitians are receiving government assistance.

“What I’m hearing from the people of Springfield is, first of all, we need help with our town as it’s not set up to take 20,000 people to stay here for a long time,” Yost said. “And I understand that there’s also some frustration in the city because they’re goodhearted people, they’ve tried to be kind, they’ve tried to be supportive of folks that are clearly fleeing a terrible situation in Haiti, but they feel like they’re being left to handle it on their own and I don’t blame them.”

Fox News Digital asked Yost what he hopes the federal government will do in the future to avoid issues like this.

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO, RESIDENT DETAILS ‘DYSTOPIAN NIGHTMARE’ AS HAITIAN MIGRANTS OVERRUN TOWN: ‘BREAKS MY HEART’

“Well, for starters, they need to keep track of people once they’re in the country,” Yost said. “The notion that we’re going to release somebody on a temporary basis, whether that’s on parole or temporary protection or whatever bureaucratic ‘gobblese’ they’re using this week, they ought to know where these folks are, make sure that they can get to court on their court date and if they’re not supposed to be here, that they can be sent home.”

“I don’t see any evidence that they know that. If they do know that, they’re not sharing it with local communities who need to know to be able to plan their response. I would argue, though, that there has to be a limiting principle. What if they just decided that the 8 to 12, I mean, estimates vary, but there’s millions of people that came into the country in the last four years,” Yost continued. “Can you just put all of them in Ohio and basically double our population? There has to be a limiting principle here. And we’re looking for a way to get this in front of the court.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the White House for comment but did not receive a response.

Republicans block Dem-backed IVF bill revived by Chuck Schumer

Republicans blocked a Democrat-backed bill on in vitro fertilization (IVF) from proceeding on Tuesday, which has already failed in the upper chamber.

The bill failed to garner the 60 votes necessary in the procedural vote, failing 51 to 44.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., announced he was scheduling an additional vote on the measure in a letter to senators on Sunday.

“As our national debate on reproductive rights has continued to unfold, we have seen the Republican Party’s nominee for president claim to be ‘a leader in fertilization’ and come out in support of expanding access to IVF by requiring insurance companies to cover IVF treatment — a key provision included in the Right to IVF Act,” Schumer wrote.

DEMS POUR $25M INTO GROUND GAME AS GOP INCHES CLOSER TO SENATE MAJORITY

“So, we are going to give our Republican colleagues another chance to show the American people where they stand.”

Schumer’s decision to bring the bill back to the Senate floor comes after former President Donald Trump vowed to mandate insurers to cover IVF, as he emphasized his support of the procedure.

“I’m announcing today in a major statement that under the Trump administration, your government will pay for — or your insurance company will be mandated to pay for — all costs associated with IVF treatment,” Trump said at a Michigan event last month. “Because we want more babies, to put it nicely.”

TAMMY BALDWIN FACES CONFLICT OF INTEREST CONCERNS OVER PARTNER’S WALL STREET GIG

Under the IVF bill, which was introduced by Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., “A group health plan or a health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage shall provide coverage for fertility treatment, if such plan or coverage provides coverage for obstetrical services.”

This would extend to nearly all insurers, as obstetrical coverage is considered a routine inclusion.

In June, nearly all Senate Republicans voted the measure down during a key procedural vote, preventing it from getting the 60 necessary votes to advance.

JON TESTER CASTS DOUBT ON UNFAVORABLE POLL IN MONTANA SENATE RACE: ‘GIVE ME A BREAK’

Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Katie Britt of Alabama proposed their own IVF bill later in the summer, which they said would prevent bans on the procedure but allow for commonsense regulation. That measure was blocked from being voted on when Cruz made a unanimous consent request to proceed with it. It has not been slated for a traditional vote by Schumer, either.

At the time, Cruz and Britt also led a statement that was signed by the entire Republican conference, reiterating their support of IVF.

Ahead of the cloture vote on Tuesday, Cruz and Britt once again sought to proceed to a vote on their bill by way of unanimous consent. However, their request was objected to.

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., also led a bill designed to promote IVF earlier this summer, which was bicameral and introduced in the House by Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla. His measure sought to decouple Health Savings Accounts (HSA) from health insurance plans and raise the contribution limits for families to assist in paying for expenses such as IVF.

The Florida senator similarly sought to advance his bill to a vote on Monday night, making a request for unanimous consent. This was objected to by Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

Scott said he wouldn’t speak about private conversations with Trump when asked by Fox News Digital ahead of the vote if they had discussed the former president’s IVF proposal, but he reiterated, “I’m very supportive of IVF, and we’ll see what Schumer brings up.”

Pressed on the component to mandate insurers to cover the procedure, he said he would see what’s written in the bill.

TOP SENATORS BRIEFED ON ‘MAJOR ERRORS’ LEADING UP TO TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT

Senate Minority Whip John Thune, R-S.D., who is running for Republican Senate leader in November, said he hadn’t discussed the IVF proposal with Trump but perhaps some of his colleagues had.

“Obviously, it’s an idea that’s out there that we’re having discussions about. But, we’ll react to it if and when it happens, if that’s the direction Schumer decides to go,” he told Fox News Digital after Schumer announced the scheduled vote.

Asked about mandating private insurance coverage for a procedure, which isn’t a traditionally conservative position, Thune said, “I guess that’s the conversation we’re going to have to have.”

“Obviously, it’s something that our nominee has come out in support of, but there are lots of mandates that are imposed on insurance companies, which raise rates,” he explained.

“Every Republican is for IVF. I don’t know of any Republican that isn’t,” he said. “The question of whether or not insurance ought to cover it is another issue that we need to talk about.”

Walz appointee with apparent CCP ties could expose potential veep’s national security weakness, lawmaker says

With Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz under congressional scrutiny for his connections to Chinese entities, one top lawmaker fumed at allegations he had appointed a Chinese political party member to a state board.

In August, Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting information on “Chinese entities and officials Governor Walz has engaged and partnered with” as part of its investigation into “elite capture” – or China’s strategy of developing relationships with U.S. political figures.

Last week, the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) reported that one of Walz’s chairperson appointments to the Council of Asian-Pacific Minnesotans (CAPM) is a person with ties to China’s third-largest political party.

HOUSE OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE INVESTIGATING WALZ OVER LONGSTANDING CONNECTIONS TO CHINA

In 2021, Chang Wang took his seat as vice chair representing Chinese ancestry on the CAPM’s board. His term expires in January. Other ancestries represented on the panel include Tibetan, Polynesian and Bhutanese.

Wang, however, was or is one of 25 members serving on the Central Civil and Judiciary Committee of China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) [party],” the DCNF reported, citing an archived University of Minnesota biography.

In China, minor parties like CAPD effectively operate with the express permission of the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

CAPD Chairman Cai Daifeng has urged CAPD members to rally around the CCP Central Committee and properly advise the ruling party, according to Chinese state media Xinhua.

When asked about the news in light of his correspondence with the FBI, Comer said it is “deeply concerning.”

GOP VETERAN LAWMAKERS DROP SCATHING ‘STOLEN VALOR’ LETTER AS TRUMP CAMP RIPS ‘FREAKISH TIMOTHY’

“Governor Walz’s documented history and cozy relationship with Chinese entities and officials is … a national security threat,” Comer said.

“Based on information obtained by the House Oversight Committee, the governor’s decision to embrace China with open arms may have allowed the CCP to influence his decision-making as a congressman and governor and potentially would allow the CCP to influence the White House should Vice President Harris be elected.”

The Kentucky lawmaker added that Americans deserve to have the full picture of Walz’s reported ties to the CCP.

“The committee will continue to push the FBI for all relevant information in its possession.”

According to his CAPM biography, Chang studied filmmaking at Beijing Film Academy, holds an art history degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign and got his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota. His legal focus is immigration law, art law and foreign direct investment.

Fox News Digital reached out to Chang via his Kingsfield Law firm but was unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, Comer indicated that the FBI has “failed” to comply with his month-old request for information.

“The committee requested information about the CCP-affiliated entities and officials with which Mr. Timothy Walz has engaged, as well as any warnings or information the Federal Bureau of Investigation has provided to Mr. Walz or his office about CCP influence operations. The deadline to produce such documents and information has passed, and the Bureau has failed to provide any response to the Committee,” Comer said, calling the bureau’s silence “inexcusable.”

Walz has reportedly visited China about two dozen times, and Comer noted he organized a 1993 trip to the Communist nation for his students. He had been teaching high school in Box Butte County, Nebraska, at the time.

In 2007, Walz was a fellow at Macau Polytechnic University in the autonomous Macau region while he was a member of Congress.

“Macau Polytechnic University exists ‘in alignment with China’s Belt and Road Initiative,’ a political warfare program developed by President Xi Jinping to exert China’s influence worldwide,” Comer said in a separate statement.

However, Chang told DCNF that his elderly parents are his only ties to China. The outlet added that his current University of Minnesota bio does not include his Chinese political affiliation as the archived link had.

Chang’s parents were scientists at a Chinese academy whose work contributed to military products, according to a Pentagon document.

“Walz… can’t explain away the pattern,” China expert Gordon Chang told Newsmax in a recent interview regarding evidence of ties to Chinese entities.

Walz is not the first Democrat to receive attention for his alleged ties to China or Chinese interests.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., has batted back criticisms in regard to Fang Fang, a suspected Chinese spy who had worked to develop “close ties” with his office as early as 2014.

Swalwell said previously that when the FBI alerted him to Fang’s potential ties to Chinese espionage, he “did everything I hoped everyone would do, which was to cooperate and help the FBI – and she was removed.”

Similarly, when the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., was notified by the feds that her professional driver of 20 years was also suspected of similar ties, she fired him.

Earlier this month, police in New York State arrested an aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul on charges of conspiring to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act, visa fraud, alien smuggling and money laundering conspiracy.

Linda Sun was hired by the executive chamber “more than a decade ago,” Hochul said in a statement, adding that the Empire State fired her in 2023 over evidence of misconduct. Hochul’s office said Sun was first hired by the executive branch a decade ago – a timeframe that would instead have placed Andrew Cuomo in Albany.

Fox News Digital also reached out to Walz’ office in St. Paul and the Harris campaign for comment.

Tulsi Gabbard says she would be ‘honored’ to join a potential Trump administration

Tulsi Gabbard, the former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, told Fox News Digital Monday that she would “be honored to serve” in a potential Trump administration.

If tapped, Gabbard expressed her desire to work in a position where she can make the greatest impact, particularly in areas related to foreign policy or national security. Gabbard is an active-duty military veteran who completed two tours in the Middle East, and currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

“I feel I can make the most impact in these areas of national security and foreign policy, and work to bring about the changes that President Trump talks about,” Gabbard said Monday evening from a campaign fundraising event in Atlanta, Georgia. Gabbard added that bringing an end “to the influence of the military industrial complex,” working to prevent World War III and bringing the U.S. back “from the brink of nuclear war” would be among her priorities. War should be a “last resort,” Gabbard said. She has also supported former President Trump’s plans to end the war in Ukraine.

TULSI GABBARD REVEALS HOW SHE ‘DISSECTED’ KAMALA HARRIS DURING 2019 DEM PRIMARY DEBATE

Gabbard spent time as the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee between 2013 and 2016, and previously supported candidates like Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, and President Biden. However, blaming a shift within her former party that she has not agreed with, Gabbard became increasingly friendly with the GOP before leaving the party and eventually joining Trump’s transition team last month.

“There are a lot of people who I meet in a lot of different places every day who are former Democrats, or people who are leaving the Democratic Party,” Gabbard said Monday. “People who recognize the same things that I have and experienced the same things that I have and realize that the Democratic Party of today doesn’t stand for them, doesn’t stand for freedom, it doesn’t stand for civil liberties… doesn’t stand for peace.”

The former Democratic congresswoman has been outspoken against what a Harris administration could do to peace around the world and, on Monday, she slammed Democrats – including Vice President Kamala Harris – for what she described as their refusal to engage in diplomacy with U.S. adversaries.

“President Trump did in his last administration what President Obama refused to do, what President Biden refused to do, what Kamala Harris has made clear she refuses to do – which is to go out and do that tough work that a president and commander in chief has to do in diplomacy,” Gabbard said. “Not just hanging out with your friends, and your allies, and your partners, but actually going out and talking to your adversaries.”

KAMALA HARRIS’ FOREIGN POLICY CHOPS QUESTIONED: WHAT HAS SHE DONE, WHERE HAS SHE BEEN?

Gabbard argued that peace will remain elusive until the leaders in the White House are willing to do this sort of diplomacy. She also slammed Harris for escalating the war in Ukraine and being “flippant” about the chances of a nuclear disaster.

“The longer this war goes on and the more that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden and the neocons of Washington continue to escalate this war, the greater risk we are of a potential nuclear war, World War III,” Gabbard said on Monday. “It is unconscionable and unacceptable that Kamala Harris and others who are continuing to escalate [the war in Ukraine] are so flippant about the reality of nuclear war.”

UN ambassador criticizes Israeli military, calls for ‘fundamental changes’

The United States’ Ambassador to the United Nations is expressing frustration with the Israeli military following strikes that killed multiple UN-aligned personnel in the region.

Amb. Linda Thomas-Greenfield spoke out at the U.N. Security Council meeting on Monday, where she lamented the “preventable” loss of life caused by the conflict.

“We will continue to raise the need for Israel to facilitate humanitarian operations, and protect humanitarian workers and facilities, such as the UNRWA school targeted by the IDF last week in Nusseirat,” Thomas-Greenfield said.

ISRAELI DEFENSE MINISTER TELLS US ONLY ‘MILITARY ACTION’ CAN RETURN PEOPLE TO HOMES AMID HEZBOLLAH THREAT

UNRWA refers to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.

She continued, “We have also been unequivocal in communicating to Israel that there is no basis – absolutely none – for its forces to be opening fire on clearly marked UN vehicles, as recently occurred on numerous occasions.”

A former school converted into a UNRWA civilian shelter was struck last week by the Israeli Defense Forces, killing 18 people. Six of those killed were UNRWA personnel.

The Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, previously rebuked criticism of the strike on the UNRWA shelter, asserting that the entire agency has become overrun with terrorists and terrorist sympathizers — including personnel at the destroyed shelter.

ISRAEL’S UN AMBASSADOR SLAMS WORLD BODY, SAYS UNRWA TAKEN OVER BY HAMAS TERRORISTS IN GAZA

“How long will the U.N. continue to bury its head in the sand and ignore the fact that Hamas terrorists have taken over UNRWA?” Danon asked this week. “Those who were killed yesterday (Wednesday) in the IDF strike were nine terrorists with blood on their hands, and some of them participated in the barbaric massacre on October 7.”

Danon provided a list of names ostensibly connecting known Hamas terrorists to the civilian shelter.

When approached by Fox News Digital, Juliette Touma, a UNRWA spokesperson, claimed that “Israeli authorities have not requested UNRWA officially to provide them with the list of staff killed in yesterday’s attack on the UNRWA school.” She added, “The names that appear on today’s statement from the Israeli Army have not been flagged to us before by the Israeli authorities in previous occasions prior to today.”

The U.S. ambassador did note on Monday the ongoing threat of Hamas embedding its members within civilian agencies.

“At the same time, we continue to see Hamas hiding in, and taking over, and otherwise using civilian sites to conduct operations and pose an ongoing threat,” said Thomas-Greenfield. “There’s no clearer evidence of Hamas’ total indifference to Palestinian civilians in Gaza. For their sake, and the sake of innocent people on all sides of this conflict – this must stop.”

Nine individuals were fired by UNRWA last month after it was found they likely participated in the Hamas slaughter of 1,200 people, including more than 30 Americans, on Oct. 7 in southern Israel.

“For nine people, the evidence was sufficient to conclude that they may have been involved in the 7th of October attacks,” Farhan Haq, spokesperson for the U.N. secretary general said during a press briefing.

Haitian influx causing one major safety concern among Springfield residents

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Residents of an Ohio town that has taken in thousands of migrants in just a few years expressed concerns for their safety, especially when driving on the city’s more crowded roads.

“My safety,” one Springfield resident told Fox News Digital when asked what concerns her most about the flow of migrants into the town. “I walk a dog, I approach these Haitians with a smile, I never get a smile back. I just don’t understand it.”

The comments come as longtime residents of Springfield, Ohio, have grappled with a new reality in recent years, with the town taking in thousands of Haitian migrants since 2021. According to the city’s website, the total number of immigrants in Clark County, of which Springfield is the county seat, is between 12,000 and 15,000. The influx of people to the town, which the 2020 census showed had a population of just around 60,000, has caused tension in the town, locals told Fox News Digital, especially on the roads.

“They hit my kid’s fence,” a Springfield resident named Mike O’Brien told Fox News Digital. “They backed into my kids fence, it cost us $400 to get fixed… they can’t drive. It’s just really, really outrageous, it’s inexplicable… every day I get up, and I feel less secure in my own little community that I was born in.”

HAITIAN REFUGEES ‘DON’T UNDERSTAND THE LAWS,’ FORMER LAWMAKER SAYS AMID FATAL WRECK, CULTURAL CLASHES

Complaints about road safety were perhaps the chief concern of longtime residents, who recounted many stories of accidents they had witnessed over the last few years.

Those concerns were shared by former Republican State Rep. Kyle Koehler, who told Fox News Digital the situation on Springfield’s roads has become a growing problem.

“We do have a really abnormal number of car accidents that are happening,” said Koehler, who is now running to represent the area in the state Senate. “And it’s not only the number, but the severity of them. When you go on a street that is a 35-mile-an-hour speed limit and there’s a car sitting on its hood, and I’m not talking about one, I’m talking about five or six accidents a week like that, you begin to wonder.”

Concerns over road safety hit a tipping point in August of last year, when a minivan driven by a Haitian migrant collided with a school bus carrying dozens of local students. Over 20 children were injured in the crash, while one, 11-year-old Aiden Clark, was killed.

SPRINGFIELD PASTORS SPEAK OUT ON HAITIAN REFUGEE CHALLENGES: ‘THE SUFFERING IS REAL’

Since the accident, concerned residents have become increasingly vocal, including taking their concerns to multiple city meetings.

However, according to O’Brien, road safety is not the only concern among local residents, noting that the large influx of people in such a short amount of time has put strain on the city.

“I don’t discriminate against anybody, so I don’t care if they drop 20,000 Mexicans here, 20,000 Irishmen in here, it’s too much,” he said. “People right here in this town, they’re tired of it, they’re really tired of it.”

Meanwhile, other residents indicated that they welcomed the newcomers to the town, arguing that it was an opportunity for them to pursue a better life.

“I feel sad for them because of where they came from, and this is a greater opportunity for them,” Ruth Lee, a nine-year resident of Springfield, told Fox News Digital.

While Lee acknowledged that a lot of city services may be overwhelmed as they adjust to the influx, there is also an opportunity for residents to improve the lives of their new neighbors.

“I want to reach out to them and let them know that they’re a human being and that they’re welcome,” Lee said.

Gov Sanders hits campaign trail as top surrogate for Trump in key battleground state: ‘Going full-speed ahead’

Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the current Republican governor of Arkansas and a former White House press secretary during the Trump administration, is ramping up her presence on the campaign trail for former President Donald Trump and is taking a more prominent role as a “top surrogate” in the coming weeks.

“President Trump is a fighter, and nothing – not the political establishment, not political prosecution from the Left, not even two would-be assassins – can keep him from making America great again,” Sanders told Fox News Digital. “The President Trump I know is going full-speed ahead, and I’m excited to join him on the campaign trail this week to speak directly to the American people.”

Sanders, the daughter of former presidential candidate and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, traveled to Ohio on Monday to campaign with Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno to meet with voters and attend fundraisers across the Buckeye State.

On Tuesday, two days after the former president survived an assassination attempt for the second time in two months, Sanders will be in Flint, Michigan, with Trump for a town hall event.

CRITICS PAN KAMALA HARRIS’ TV INTERVIEW, BEWILDERING ANSWERS: ‘TALK IS CHEAP’

Sanders will also be campaigning in Pennsylvania to help GOP Senate candidate Dave McCormick unseat Democrat Sen. Bob Casey in a race that will have major implications on which party controls the Senate in November.

“Our country is at a tipping point: four more years of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden’s failures, or four years of success with President Trump and a Republican-led Senate,” Sanders said.

HARRIS DODGES QUESTION ON LOWERING PRICES BY DESCRIBING ‘MIDDLE-CLASS’ ROOTS: NEIGHBORS ‘PROUD OF THEIR LAWN’

“Our party is on a mission to return to the America President Trump built, where our prices were low, our border was secure, our enemies feared us, and our allies respected us,” Sanders said. “I’m proud to stand with my friend and old boss, Donald J. Trump, and Senate Republican candidates to make America great once again.”

Sanders told the crowd at the Republican National Convention in July, shortly after the first assassination attempt against Trump’s life, that “never have I been more proud than to stand with him right now tonight.”

New Trump website reveals how much money a Harris presidency could cost taxpayers

FIRST ON FOX: The Trump campaign unveiled a website Tuesday that tabulates how much voters in each state can expect to pay in taxes if the Trump tax cuts expire next year.

“Kamala Harris voted against the Trump Tax Cuts and will let them expire if she’s elected,” the website, dubbed KamalaTaxIncrease.com, says.

“Democrats in Washington don’t care about you – they will work together with Kamala Harris to make sure you pay more taxes and have less money in your pocket. According to the Tax Foundation, if the Trump Tax Cuts expire, most taxpayers will see a notable tax increase,” it adds.

Using data from the Washington, D.C.-based think tank the Tax Foundation, the Trump campaign’s new website displays a map of the U.S. with a breakdown on what residents in each state could expect to spend in additional taxes

TRUMP TO LAUNCH CRYPTO PLATFORM: WHAT TO KNOW

When Kamala is in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin this week – will she tell voters that on average they will pay more than $2,000 in extra taxes each year if she is elected and lets the Trump Tax Cuts expire? The choice is simple – more money in your pockets with President Trump or higher taxes with Kamala Harris,” Karoline Leavitt, the Trump campaign’s national press secretary, told Fox News Digital.

The national average tax hike falls at $2,580.57, while residents in blue states such as California and Washington can expect an average increase of $3,360 and $4,375, according to the website.

Florida residents face an average tax hike of $3,505 per year, while Nevadans can expect a $3,523 spike, and Wyoming residents $4,254, according to the data.

The Tax Foundation additionally has a calculator on its website that can tabulate expected increases based on an individual’s personal background, such as income and marital status, to view more in-depth data

Trump and Republican lawmakers passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017, which drastically overhauled the nation’s tax code, including reducing the top individual income tax bracket to 37% from 39.6% and nearly doubling the size of the standard deduction.

The law, however, is set to sunset in 2025, with Vice President Harris vowing to reverse the Trump-era cuts. She is proposing to raise the rate that major businesses pay from 21% to 28%, and also seeks to increase the federal government’s small business tax deduction tenfold, from $5,000 to $50,000.

TRUMP’S ECONOMIC SCORECARD: WHERE HE STANDS ON TAXES, TARIFFS AND MORE

Trump has pledged to make the entirety of his 2017 tax law permanent if he is re-elected in November.

“He wants to let our tax cuts expire,” Trump said in May at a rally in New Jersey. “Instead of a Biden tax hike, I’ll give you a Trump middle-class, upper-class, lower-class, business-class – big tax cut. You’re going to have the biggest tax cut.”

Last week, the Chamber of Commerce and 500 businesses spread across the nation published an open letter to Washington lawmakers and the next presidential administration, calling on them to keep the Trump tax cuts in place or risk the U.S. facing “the largest tax increase in American history.”

TRUMP, HARRIS TOUT TAX PLANS AHEAD OF PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE

“While the impact of a massive tax increase on individual Americans is clear, it is critical for policymakers to understand that the expiration of many pro-growth business tax reforms from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) also will dramatically increase costs for families and customers, harm main street businesses, reduce take-home pay for workers, and result in the loss of innovation and American jobs,” Neil Bradley, executive vice president and chief policy officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement of the letter.

“Pro-growth tax policy doesn’t just grow the overall U.S. economy; it raises wages for American workers and improves standards of living,” the statement continued. “Maintaining and improving pro-growth tax policy ensures that the U.S. remains globally competitive, retaining and attracting businesses, jobs, investment, and innovation here at home.”

Harris, meanwhile, pledged in July that she would not to raise taxes on anyone making under $400,000 a year if elected to the Oval Office in November. The Tax Foundation’s Center for Tax Policy also told fact checking website Verify this week that Trump’s proposed tariff plans – which include between 10% and 20% tariff on all imported goods and a 60% tariff on all goods imported from China – would lead to an average increase of more than $6,000 per household
